Are you an experienced Estimator looking to play a key role in winning complex civil engineering and construction projects? We're recruiting on behalf of a key client for an Estimator to support the successful pricing and delivery of major tenders across the UK infrastructure sector.
Please note this is an office based role, with the flexibility after probation to work flexibly from home 1 day per week.
The Role
As Estimator, you'll be responsible for producing detailed, accurate, and competitive cost estimates for tenders and early contractor involvement (ECI) projects. Working closely with Bid Managers, planners, procurement, and technical teams, you'll help shape winning commercial solutions that balance value, risk, and opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for tenders and budget pricing
Work collaboratively with the Bid Manager to ensure competitive and compliant submissions
Develop labour, plant, materials, subcontractor, and preliminaries pricing
Provide advice on the most cost‑effective design and construction solutions
Coordinate with procurement to assess supplier and subcontractor quotations
Liaise with planners to align resources, methodology, and programme
Contribute to risk and opportunity registers alongside the bid team
Present pricing build‑ups at pre‑settlement and settlement meetings
Support tender submissions, post‑tender clarifications, and final pricing documentation
Prepare handover documents for successful bids and support bid reviews for unsuccessful tendersAbout You
Strong background in estimating within civil engineering or construction (minimum 3 year experience)
Sound knowledge of UK construction techniques and procurement legislation
Commercially aware, with experience across different forms of contract
Confident working with estimating software and detailed pricing build‑ups
