Macgregor Black are partnering with a growing consumer brand on the search for a National Account Development Manager. This is a permanent role based in North of England.


The National Account Development Manager will have a high impact commercial role focused on identifying, developing, and winning new retail partnerships. You will be at the forefront of driving growth, building new business pipelines, and broadening the company’s retail footprint. This role offers a rare opportunity to join a growing premium brand while being given the autonomy and support to make a real mark.


Key Responsibilities:


* Identify, approach, and secure new national retail and grocery accounts across key trade and consumer channels.
* Reignite and grow underperforming strategic accounts through proactive engagement, relationship rebuilding, and brand reactivation initiatives.
* Develop tailored customer acquisition and growth strategies aligned with the company’s brand architecture and wellbeing-focused mission.
* Lead impactful brand and product presentations, showcasing strong category expertise and a deep understanding of consumer behaviour and market dynamics.
* Partner with product and marketing teams to design, position, and launch new ranges across multiple brands within the company’s portfolio.
* Analyse EPOS and market data to identify range gaps, category opportunities, and commercial advantages that strengthen business proposals and partner performance.
* Negotiate listings, trading terms, and promotional investments that deliver sustainable, profitable growth for both the company and its customers.
* Build and maintain strong multi-level relationships across retail buying, trading, and category management functions.
* Collaborate with the Commercial Merchandising and Product Development teams to optimise stock planning, pricing architecture, and promotional execution for new and existing accounts.
* Work closely with the UK Head of Sales to ensure seamless onboarding, transition, and long-term stewardship of newly acquired customers.
* Champion the wellbeing narrative in all customer interactions, positioning the company as a leader in sleep innovation and holistic wellbeing.
* Represent the business externally at trade shows, category forums, and industry events as a brand ambassador for innovation and purpose-led growth.
* Provide regular updates to the board on pipeline development, opportunity conversion, and strategic progress.


What We're Looking For:


* Business Development Excellence – proven track record of opening and scaling national retail and grocery accounts.
* Strategic Selling – ability to build and execute persuasive commercial strategies based on insight, data, and relationships.
* Negotiation & Influence – skilled at securing listings and trading agreements at senior retail level.
* Commercial Acumen – deep understanding of retail economics, pricing, and margin optimisation.
* Category Insight – familiarity with bedding, homeware, or adjacent FMCG sectors and consumer buying trends.
* Brand Storytelling – capable of delivering compelling presentations that blend data with emotional brand appeal.
* Collaborative Leadership – works effectively with internal teams across Product, Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain.
* Wellbeing Advocacy – passionate about helping consumers improve wellbeing through better sleep.
* Entrepreneurial Drive – self-motivated, resilient, and thrives on new challenges and targets.
