Job Role: Mechanical Supervisor (plumbing) Location: HMP The Mount, Bovingdon, Hemel Hempstead HP3 0NZ Salary: £45,000 per annum, + 5% additional for working shifts over weekends Contract: Permanent, full time, 39 hours per week
Are you an accomplished Plumber with experience managing or leading teams from a Facilities, Forces or Healthcare background looking for your next challenge?
We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Supervisor to join our team at HMP The Mount, a Category C & Adult/Male prison. Join a team that works Monday-Sunday as a supportive and driven family, working together to create a safe environment. HMP The Mount operates like a self-contained town, requiring hundreds of staff to keep it functioning. As part of the Facilities Maintenance Team, you will help ensure smooth and safe operations, impacting prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.
As a Mechanical Supervisor, you will lead experienced colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators, all dedicated to making a positive difference. Qualifications and skills required include:
* C&G 6189 Plumbing and domestic heating
* C&G 5962 certificate in Plumbing (Advanced craft)
* C&G 6019 Mechanical Engineering services (plumbing)
* C&G 6018 heating and ventilation installation
* C&G 6129 certificate in Plumbing
* C&G 214 Engineering systems maintenance
* C&G 6188 Heating and ventilating
* C&G 6088 certificate in heating and ventilating
* C&G 6032 the advanced craft certificate in plumbing
* EAL Diploma in Plumbing and Heating
* Minimum five years’ experience, ideally in FM, secure, military, health, or similar sectors
* Experience with commercial or industrial heating, water, or building systems
* Knowledge of Water Supply Regulation and Legionella L8 requirements
* Good Health & Safety knowledge
* Excellent organizational, time management, and people skills
* Risk, compliance, planning, and project management skills
