Salary: £45,000 - 55,000 per year Requirements: We are looking for someone with solid database fundamentals and a few years of DBA experience. We ideally want experience with MySQL or similar relational databases. We value experience in performance tuning, query optimisation, and troubleshooting. We look for knowledge of backups, recovery, replication, or high availability. We want experience supporting production environments. We value monitoring, incident resolution, and data integrity experience. Experience with AWS, Aurora, RDS, or other managed database services would be useful. Exposure to AWS, CloudWatch, Performance Insights, Terraform, Ansible, Rundeck, MSSQL, data lakes, CDC tooling, or event-driven systems would be helpful but is not essential. We are open to DBA, Database Engineer, or technically strong support/application engineers with relevant database experience. Responsibilities: We will have you support and improve a business-critical AWS Aurora MySQL estate. We will rely on you to manage and support high-volume MySQL database environments. We will expect you to monitor database health and ensure systems remain stable, reliable, and performant. We will have you investigate performance issues and resolve data-related problems. We will ask you to support backups, recovery processes, and replication checks. We will involve you in maintaining reliable Live and QA environments. We will have you work closely with development, DevOps, QA, and data teams. We will ask you to support safe database changes and maintain operational processes. We will want you to help improve queries and contribute to continuous improvement across the database estate. We will offer opportunities to get involved in automation, monitoring, and platform improvement work.
