We are looking for a talented individual who will be a breakfast and lunchtime Kitchen Assistant in our residential care home for older people in Stowmarket, Suffolk.
Food is one of those essential ingredients of a residential care home that you cannot do without! At Finborough Court, our Catering Team play a critical role in upholding our commitment to providing healthy, nutritious and tasty meals as we take the lifestyle and diet of our residents very seriously.
Finborough Court is a modern and spacious home in the quiet, rural village of Great Finborough. Our staff provide residential care, dementia care and respite care for 32 residents. The health, well-being and happiness of our residents is of primary importance to us.

Responsibilities:
- Serve drinks and snacks to residents, prepare and serve light meals.
- Observe food hygiene regulations.
- Maintain a clean and hygienic working environment; tidy communal areas, wash, dry and store all crockery, cutlery and utensils.
- Maintain the kitchen, catering equipment and food storage rooms in a high state of cleanliness and tidiness.
- Maintain all records and control stock rotation when on duty.
- Work as part of a team and be willing to take on any task, within your capabilities, to provide an excellent service to our residents.
- Attend meetings and training activities as required.
- In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, you are required to perform other duties assigned by your manager from time to time that are within your capabilities.
We offer a full induction to the work and also provide other training as required by the post.
About you:
- You need to be someone who enjoys working with older people and can have an empathy with them;
- You might have a basic food hygiene certificate and a food-related qualification (this would be an advantage but is not essential).
- You need to be able to work independently as well as in a small team in order to provide an excellent service to our residents; and
- You need to be a well-organised, practical and adaptable person.
