Grounds Maintenance Operative
Location: MoD Corsham, Wiltshire
Contract: Permanent, Full Time (37 hours per week)

We're looking for a motivated Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our dedicated team—someone who takes pride in delivering high-quality work, cares about safety, and enjoys working outdoors in all seasons.

Primary Responsibilities
5. Grass cutting, strimming, leaf blowing and collection and Tree Maintenance.
6. General gardening: weeding, watering, mulching, Mowing grasses
7. Winter road maintenance: gritting and snow clearance
8. Sports pitch marking and maintenance
9. Hedge cutting and tree-related work
10. Routine maintenance of grounds equipment (mowers, strimmers, vehicles, gritters, etc.)
11. Hard landscaping and reactive grounds tasks
12. Participation in the winter on‑call rota
Essential Requirements
13. Proof of right to work in the UK
14. Full UK driving licence
15. Willingness to work outdoors year-round
16. A responsible, safety-conscious mindset
17. Ability to work with minimal supervision
18. Mechanical knowledge of grounds equipment
19. Horticultural knowledge, including plant identification
20. Minimum 3 years' experience in grounds maintenance or a similar role
21. Relevant horticulture qualification (NVQ or RHS)
22. Cross cutting – chainsaw maintenance, Felling and operator certificates
23. Experience in turf maintenance
Desirable:
24. Any experience Arboriculture – or Tree surgeon - Desirable and Pesticide qualifications: PA1, PA6 (PA2 an advantage).
25. Basic IT and administrative skills
Security Clearance:
MOD security clearance is required and will be funded by Mitie. Spent convictions are not automatically a barrier to clearance.
