Berkshire (Local Authority) £26.63 per hour (Umbrella) 3-Month Contract (Likely Extension) Basic DBS Required
The Role
A Berkshire-based Local Authority is seeking an experienced Housing Accommodation Officer to support their Housing Service on an initial 3-month contract. This is a key role within a fast-paced team, helping to ensure suitable accommodation is secured and maintained for residents in housing need.
Key Responsibilities
* Source and manage temporary and/or permanent accommodation placements
* Liaise with landlords, agents, and internal departments to secure suitable housing options
* Carry out property inspections to ensure compliance with housing and H&S standards
* Manage voids and coordinate timely property turnaround
* Support residents with tenancy-related issues, ensuring a high level of customer service
* Maintain accurate records and update housing management systems
* Respond effectively to urgent housing needs, including homelessness cases
About You
* Proven experience within a local authority housing team or similar environment
* Strong understanding of housing legislation, homelessness duties, and tenancy management
* Ability to manage a busy caseload and work under pressure
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Highly organised, proactive, and solution-focused
Additional Information
* Basic DBS check is required
* Must drive a Car
* Hybrid working may be available depending on service needs
