Due to the expansion of our service operating 7 days between the hours of 08:00 to 20:00, we are looking for Band 7 HCPC registered MRI Radiographers to join our growing MRI team within the general imaging department at St Bartholomew's Hospital.
Key working relationships will be with the Imaging Head of Radiography, MRI Lead Radiographer, Radiologists, MRI & rotational radiographers, imaging assistants and other clinical and professional staff.
The post-holder will participate in the effective and safe running of the MRI department and will be able to perform a wide range of specialist MRI scans in the extended hours 7‑day service. The post holder will offer supervision/line management to band 6 radiographers, imaging assistants, students, and visitors to the MRI department. The post holder will ensure patient flow in the trust by actively managing the flow of outpatients and in‑patients. Furthermore, they will be expected to engage in prompt protocolling, checking of conditional devices, liaison with radiologists and other clinicians to actively unblock barriers to scanning. The post holder will be key in ensuring the delivery of high‑quality patient care and experience and will be enabled to deal with and diffuse potential complaints to the patient and carers' satisfaction.
Main duties of the job include:
 * Working as a specialist diagnostic practitioner in MRI and being responsible for a variable caseload of patients including Cardiac and General MRI.
 * Carrying out the appropriate diagnostic procedures to support the diagnosis of complex conditions.
 * Supervising, supporting and assisting students and junior radiographers in service delivery and personal development.
 * Organising and overseeing the training of radiographers and students in all aspects of MRI scanning, including comprehensive competency assessments.
 * Promoting continuous improvements in service delivery and quality within all areas of the MRI service, using modern methods to improve productivity, leading in the delivery of service and workforce transformation, and re‑design.
 * Managing the work of staff in the department and developing a culture in which members of staff are continuously improving the delivery of high quality services. Ensuring the development and acceptance of challenging yet realistic objectives for staff and achieving the required results through leadership, motivation and systematic performance management.

Person Specification
Experience
 * Wide experience of MRI service scanning equipment & techniques.
 * Day to day operational management.
 * Experience of current and awareness of developing trends in MRI service scanning services.
 * Participation in Quality Assurance / Clinical Governance initiatives.
 * Some personnel management experience.
 * Some knowledge of wider NHS issues.
Skills
 * Ability to organise and prioritise workload and delegate when required.
 * Excellent communication and presentation skills.
 * Ability to initiate and implement change.
 * Good analytical & organisational ability.
 * Effective problem‑solving skills.
 * Good computer skills.

Knowledge

Qualifications
 * BSc Radiography or DCR.
 * Some formal management training.
 * State registration.
 * IV cannulation.
