Overview
Berkshire Healthcare CAMHS are recruiting a qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) to join the Mental Health Support Team for schools in the Wokingham area. The MHST service is part of an initiative funded by the Department of Health, Health Education England and partners, aiming to improve the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in schools and the community. This role offers an exciting opportunity during a period of expansion, working alongside an enthusiastic and compassionate team.
Responsibilities
* Deliver evidence‑based interventions for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health problems.
* Use CYP IAPT principles, evidence‑based interventions and routine outcome measures.
* Help children and young people presenting with more severe problems to access specialist services, using multi‑agency collaboration to signpost and refer appropriately.
* Support professionals in education, Early Help, Social Care and other settings to identify and manage mental health and wellbeing issues.
* Co‑ordinate and manage a defined caseload of children and young people with emotional health and wellbeing difficulties in schools under supervision.
* Develop and provide training and workshops for professionals, parents, carers and CYP in conjunction with colleagues.
* Actively promote the whole‑system approach to developing and maintaining emotional health and wellbeing within and across services.
Qualifications
* Pre‑January 2023: Successful completion of a Health Education England Quality Assured EMHP training programme OR Post‑January 2023: Successful completion of a BPS accredited EMHP training programme.
* Confidence in assessing for and delivering high‑quality, outcome‑focused, evidence‑based low‑intensity interventions to children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties (CWP training).
* Confidence in working in a multi‑agency setting, collaborating with Early Help, Social Care, schools and other services.
* Continuous interest in exploring new ways to deliver care and a desire to learn.
* Calm, friendly and compassionate outlook with a keen interest in early intervention and mental health promotion.
