Your Role As Deputy Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for the planning, cost, quality and on-time delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects for Safran Landing Systems. Acting on behalf of the Chief Engineer (CE) for Health Management, Services and Aftermarket, you will coordinate with functions across the business to achieve key milestones within this technology segment. Candidate skills & requirements Key responsibilities include: - Leading, developing and maturing new technologies across Landing Gear & Integration (LGI) (primarily), Wheel & Brakes (W&B), System & Equipment (SE) and MRO divisions. - Constructing and delivering the TRL roadmap alongside the CE and Programmes teams. - Identifying and validating requirements to mature technologies to TRL6, from coupon testing through to full-scale testing. - Developing partnerships with technical experts and Safran technical entities. - Working closely with Transverse teams, LGI, W&B, SE and MRO to ensure project objectives are achieved. - Developing collaboration with academia and industry partners. - Reporting technical progress to senior management and funding agencies. - This role is based in Gloucester and will require travel to other UK Safran sites approximately twice a month, with occasional travel to France or other locations. What You'll Bring Essential - Degree-level (or equivalent) experience in an engineering discipline - Significant experience (minimum 8 years) within a research, engineering or technology development environment - Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder-influencing skills Desirable - Experience delivering complex engineering or research projects - Project management experience with a record of successful delivery - People management skills, including leading matrix teams (5-6 people) - Excellent presentation skills - Strong teamwork ethic and ability to collaborate across functions - Ability to develop partnerships with academia and industry - Understanding of TRL maturation processes Position location Job location Europe, UK, England, South West City (-ies) Gloucester
