Hours: 40 hours per week (standard working hours)
Start: Immediate (willing to wait for notice)
Contract: Permanent / Full-Time
Location: London (Hybrid: 1 day WFH after probation, regular site visits required)
Culture Guru is working with a respected construction and roofing contractor based in East London to find a SHE Manager to lead their Health, Safety & Environmental strategy across all projects and divisions.
This role is perfect for someone who’s passionate about creating safer working environments, upholding compliance standards, and influencing behavioural change within site teams.
You’ll be the go-to advisor for SHE excellence, conducting audits, leading investigations, and collaborating with directors, clients, and operational teams to ensure standards are not only met but exceeded.
Responsibilities of the role, but not limited to:
Site Safety Monitoring & Quality Oversight
* Take the lead on evaluating workplace safety across live projects and office locations
* Assess systems and practices to ensure they reflect industry-recognised standards
* Spot potential hazards before they escalate and embed practical, long-term safety solutions
* Be the first point of contact when incidents occur, conducting investigations thoroughly and efficiently
* Capture key learnings and support the business to roll out safety improvements
* Be flexible and responsive in dealing with urgent on-site health and safety matters
* Advise and support both site staff and senior stakeholders on best SHE practice
* Help build a positive safety-first culture that’s proactive, not reactive
* Influence behavioural change and encourage personal responsibility across teams
* Partner with operational leaders to continuously improve safety procedures
* Support forward-planning as the company expands, including preparing to grow the SHE function
* Be a visible advocate for safety excellence, internally and externally
Desirable attributes of the successful candidate:
* Holds a full UK driving licence and is confident travelling between sites
* Naturally influential – able to communicate clearly at all levels
* Recognised qualifications in health & safety (NEBOSH Construction, Tech IOSH or equivalent)
* Knowledge of scaffold inspections and temporary works supervision is a bonus
* Brings hands-on experience of reviewing site safety practices and promoting a safety-first mindset
* Familiar with key accreditations and quality frameworks
* Calm under pressure, confident in decision-making, and driven to find solutions
* Approachable and professional – someone others naturally trust and respect
