Main duties of the job
The opportunity has arisen for a one-year fixed-term role managing our friendly and dynamic newborn hearing screening service. The service is based at PAH, with screening performed on the ward as well as a number of outstation clinics. We have a friendly team of 6 screening staff, supported by the deputy newborn hearing screening manager and the service admin lead. We pride ourselves on providing a family-friendly service that consistently meets national screening KPIs, ensuring babies receive their screens in a timely manner, which is essential for early diagnosis of permanent childhood hearing impairment.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
The role is responsible for the professional and operational management of the Newborn Hearing Screening Programme in Southampton, including management, training, and staff development.
We are seeking someone with experience in screening, effective and compassionate communication skills with parents, staff, and other professionals. Good organizational skills are essential to manage rotas according to service demands.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience
Essential criteria
* Masters degree or equivalent level experience
* Significant experience in a senior newborn hearing screening role or relevant role (e.g., Audiologist, Midwife, Health Visitor)
* Understanding of National NHSP policies & targets
* Understanding of clinical and information governance
Desirable criteria
* Previous experience as a newborn hearing screening manager
* Audiology experience
* Managerial experience
* Attained newborn hearing screening External Competency Assessment (ECA)
