What the role looks like as a FT Cover Supervisor
You’ll be based in a Gateshead secondary school full-time, supervising classes when teachers are absent and guiding pupils through the work left for them. There’s no planning or marking, just clear communication, positive behaviour management and the confidence to keep lessons running smoothly.

Your daily responsibilities as a FT Cover Supervisor
1. Leading lessons using teacher-prepared materials
2. Supporting pupils to stay focused and complete set tasks
3. Keeping the classroom calm, purposeful and well-managed
4. Communicating with staff about the classes you cover
5. Building rapport with pupils across different year groups
6. Adapting to different subjects and teaching styles
What makes you a strong fit as a FT Cover Supervisor
7. Confidence speaking to groups and leading a classroom
8. A calm, patient approach during busy or lively moments
9. Good communication and teamwork skills
10. Flexibility to move between different subjects
11. Experience working with young people is helpful but not essential
12. An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
