Service User Profile
Service user is an 11-year-old boy who likes to go swimming or trampolining. Enjoys sensory play and watching TV shows like Peppa Pig and Ben & Holly. He also enjoys rough play, outdoor activities, baking/cooking and arts & crafts. Loves the city of York and the buildings.
Service user has Autism.
Behaviour Techniques
Praise works such as when he is told he’s a good boy/well done and rewards are helpful. Sometimes behaviour can be triggered when told no or when he is not allowed what he wants; resolving this involves diverting/delaying. He is patient and good at waiting and does not like to be watched. When presenting challenging behaviour, allow him some space if safe to do so in the setting you are in. This usually allows the service user to calm down and regulate his emotions. It is useful to ask what he wants, and the service user will respond/show you.
