A well‑established independent accountancy practice based in Central Bristol is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its growing business.

The Role
This is a hands‑on senior role with significant client contact and autonomy. The successful candidate will manage their own client portfolio while supporting and guiding junior team members.
Duties will include:
* Producing high‑quality client work including:
* Statutory accounts
* Management accounts
* Corporation tax computations
* VAT returns
* Payroll
* General accounting and tax advice
* UK companies and partnerships
* Providing technical support to members of the accounting services team
* Keeping up to date with changes in accounting and tax legislation and advising clients on the impact
* Assisting with the monitoring of workflow to ensure work is completed accurately and on time
* Supporting the design and implementation of improved accounting systems for clients, including training client staff
* Preparing and presenting:
* Management accounts
* Budgets
* Forecasts and cashflows
* Networking and business development activity to support new client acquisition
* Overseeing bookkeeping functions and a small payroll bureau where required
* VAT
* CIS
* PAYE
* OMB personal tax returns
About You
* An experienced general practice accountant who enjoys managing their own client files
* Comfortable working largely unsupervised, with final review from a senior team member
* Confident communicating directly with clients and building long‑term relationships
* Able to handle a busy workload while effectively utilising and supporting the wider team
* Strong commercial awareness and good judgement on when to escalate matters

* Previous experience working within an accountancy practice is essential
* Strong experience producing full sets of accounts
* Personal and corporate tax experience required

* This role is not suited to candidates still in training

* Salary of £50,000 plus DOE
* 6‑month probationary period
