Mid-level / senior scientist to develop novel biophysical assays and strategies
This Cambridge based life science start-up is seeking an experienced Protein Chemist to join them. As a start-up, there’s a variety of areas to work on, and this role would suit someone keen to experience a dynamic environment from working in the lab to technology strategy meetings.
Current projects revolve around applied proof-of-concept experiments for specific problems in pharmaceutical industries. This will include: contributing to company strategy and identifying scientific target processes that are relevant; working closely with key opinion leaders and other stakeholders; design and perform assays around protein manipulation; identify IP; support and mentor team members.
Requirements:
* Degree in biochemistry or similar, and ideally a PhD holder.
* Industry experience in a research environment working on peptide development or antibody therapeutics. This should include projects around protein characterisation.
* Strong understanding of protein chemistry and ideally antibody-based drugs.
* Strong communication skills including some experience in mentoring.
* Additional experience in reagent development and life science tools would be desirable.
This is not your usual role. If you’re an experienced hands-on scientist looking to take that next step where your research skills can marry commercial ambitions and interest in business strategy and IP, this could be the role for you.
Applicants must have full, unrestricted rights to work in the UK.
