Job Title: Technical Planner Pay: PAYE £419.60 or £584.11 Location: Hinkley Point C, Somerset Job ID : 1878 Summary The Technical Planner provides essential support to the HPC Planning Team by ensuring that planning processes, tools, and standards are clearly defined, effectively maintained, and consistently applied across the project. The role supports the stability, reliability, and continuous improvement of the integrated planning environment, contributing directly to schedule quality, process compliance, and stakeholder confidence. As the project continues to grow in scale and complexity, the planning environment must evolve to meet new challenges and deliver deeper analytical insight. The Technical Planner helps to guide and support this evolution, ensuring that systems and processes develop as required while remaining structured, controlled, and transparent. Responsibilities Coordinate key planning process activities, including month-end and baseline updates. Support the definition, documentation, and maintenance of planning standards and procedures. Monitor the performance and stability of the P6 planning environment. Perform housekeeping within P6 to ensure stored data remains current and relevant. Provide guidance and first-line support to planners on technical and procedural issues. Manage user access and configuration requests to maintain data integrity and security. Conduct quality checks and compliance reviews to ensure adherence to agreed planning processes. Identify and support opportunities for improvement across planning systems, processes, and tools. Assist with process reviews and audits, ensuring lessons learned are captured and integrated into future updates. Support the communication of process updates and system changes to the wider planning community. Support the preparation and validation of project-level reports and data extracts (e.g., XER files, soft-close outputs). Contribute to the training and onboarding of new planners in system use and planning standards. Manage the schedule change control process, including approvals and documentation of change events. Skills and Experience Essential Proven experience supporting planning systems, data structures, and governance frameworks in a complex project environment. Strong technical understanding of Primavera P6 EPPM/Professional, including configuration, user management, and performance monitoring. Solid understanding of planning principles, data management, and reporting cycles. Excellent analytical skills and a strong attention to detail. Structured, methodical approach with a focus on process discipline and consistency. Process-oriented mindset with the ability to write, review, and improve procedural documentation. Clear and confident communicator, able to engage with stakeholders at all levels. Ability to manage multiple cyclical activities and deadlines with minimal supervision. Adaptable and proactive, comfortable working in a dynamic and evolving environment. Competent in Excel, SharePoint, and related project controls tools. Desirable Knowledge of schedule assurance tools or methods (e.g., Acumen Fuse, Schedule Health Checks). Experience in large-scale infrastructure or multi-contractor project environments. Familiarity with Oracle Cloud or enterprise-level database support arrangements. Understanding of integrated schedule structures and reporting hierarchies.
