Job Title: Interim SEND Tribunal Officer Location: Barnsley Council - Hybrid (Onsite Mondays & Thursdays) Contract Type: Interim / Temporary Working Pattern: Full Time (2 days onsite: Monday & Thursday) About the Role: Barnsley Council is seeking an experienced SEND Tribunal Officer to join their team on an interim basis. This is a key role in supporting the Local Authority in managing Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) tribunal cases, with a focus on early resolution and legal compliance. Key Responsibilities: Manage and respond to SEND tribunal cases from initial notification to resolution. Prepare comprehensive written responses, evidence bundles, and liaise with legal representatives, families, and professionals. Attend and represent the council at tribunal hearings where required. Work collaboratively with SEN case officers, schools, and multi-agency partners. Provide guidance and support to the wider SEN team around tribunal procedures and compliance.What We're Looking For: Experienced SEND Tribunal Officer with in-depth knowledge of SEND legislation and the tribunal process. Ability to analyse complex case information and produce high-quality legal responses. Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with families, legal reps, and schools.
