Job Summary

We are seeking a freelance artist or theatre practitioner to deliver 6 creative sessions with Doncaster People’s Theatre, an intergenerational group of local people who create theatre together.

Job Description

The selected candidate will collaborate with Doncaster People's Theatre members to co-create a short performance exploring personal and collective experiences of freedom, place, and voice. Sessions will be inspired by Doncaster's museum and heritage services, local stories, and participants' lived experiences. The process must be inclusive, trauma-informed, and community-led. Approximately 20-30 participants aged between 7 and 81 are expected.

The fee for this role is £1020, covering planning, 6 half-day sessions, production input, and delivery.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities include delivering 6 creative sessions culminating in an immersive, site-specific piece around the Cast theatre space, linked to the wider programme celebrating freedom 80 years after VE/VJ Day. The poem 'Freedom Road' by Simon Armitage will serve as a creative prompt. The work will complement a Freedom-themed Tea Party, focusing on communities affected by health inequalities.

Outcomes:

* A collaboratively devised performance or installation within/around Cast.
* Work that is immersive, interactive, or site-specific.
* Participants contributing meaningfully to content and form.

Experience Required:

* Background in theatre, participatory arts, or community co-creation.
* Experience with diverse community groups, especially those affected by health inequalities.
