Clinical Specialist Speech & Language Therapist
Band 6: £35,392

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 dysphagia trained Specialist Speech & Language Therapist to work with as part of our community stroke team and in the wider service. This position is based in South Kirklees with main base being Mill Hill Health Centre in Huddersfield. However, on occasion, flexibility may be required to cover North Kirklees depending on service demands.
Main duties of the job
Locala Adult Speech and Language Therapy service provides comprehensive care for adults in a variety of community settings. We provide specialist triage, assessment, differential diagnosis, and treatment/discharge recommendations for adults with a range of acquired communication difficulties, eating, drinking, and swallowing difficulties (EDS) and neurogenic voice problems. We offer a hybrid approach of virtual and face to face care.
This role requires a highly motivated and innovative individual to work as part of our established multidisciplinary team.
Experience of working with stroke patients and understanding of stroke pathways and national service frameworks is essential. You should be confident in managing a caseload independently, assessing and treating patients with a wide range of communication and swallowing difficulties. As Specialist SLT you will also contribute to training, clinical supervision, and maintenance of competencies of colleagues within the team supported by the SLT and Stroke clinical leads and Team Leader. Excellent communication skills, IT skills and flexibility are essential qualities.
