About us
The Shared Regulatory Service delivers the Environmental Health, Trading Standards and Licensing functions across the Bridgend, Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan Council areas. The Service is proud to host the Wales Illegal Money Lending Unit operating as Stop Loan Sharks Wales which operates across Wales on behalf of all Welsh Local Authorities.
The team was established to tackle the problem of Illegal Money Lending in Wales, taking strong action against Loan Sharks and supporting their victims. The team promotes the work of Stop Loan Shark Wales and raises awareness with the public, charities, local authorities, advice and support agencies, credit unions, and housing providers on illegal lending and financial exclusion issues.
We are seeking to recruit a Digital Communications Officer to join our team at Stop Loan Sharks Wales. The role involves broadening the Unit’s social media reach by promoting its work to combat illegal lending activities in Wales, helping potential victims understand the Unit's role, the support it offers, and encouraging them to seek assistance. The successful candidate will lead in creating and implementing digital content to maximize the Unit’s impact.

About the role
Pay Details: Grade 6 (SCP 14-19) £28,624 - £31,067 (pay award pending)
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37 hours, flexible working (part-time/job share applications considered)
Main Place of Work: The team works from a main office in Cardiff with hybrid working, covering Wales-wide.
Contract Type: Permanent
Duties include:
1. Develop and execute a digital marketing strategy for Stop Loan Sharks Wales and the Shared Regulatory Service.
2. Lead and enhance social media presence by creating engaging content for various platforms.
3. Plan, deliver, and evaluate communication campaigns for internal and external audiences.
4. Promote Stop Loan Sharks Wales through campaigns, news articles, and partner collaborations.
5. Develop communication plans for public engagement activities.
6. Manage media enquiries and build relationships with journalists.
7. Research and write blogs, influencer content, and website material.
8. Utilize digital marketing metrics and analytics to optimize messaging and evaluate campaigns.
9. Ensure compliance with policies, including Welsh Language and Equal Opportunity policies.
About you
You will need:
1. Proven experience in digital communications and social media management.
2. Strong communication and writing skills.
3. Ability to create engaging content and stay updated with social media trends.
4. Experience in planning and executing communication campaigns.
5. Knowledge of digital marketing metrics and analytics.
