Clinical Fellow in Rehabilitation / Intermediate Care (0.4wte)

Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellow in Rehabilitation / Intermediate Care (LED ST3 equivalent). The position is for a fixed term of 12 months, working Thursday and Friday (0.4 WTE) each week. The successful applicant will join an existing team of General Practitioners, Resident Doctors, Advanced Clinical Practitioners and nursing staff on the wards.
The post holder is responsible for the care of patients on the inpatient rehabilitation wards and Discharge Lounge and will be expected to provide medical leadership in the absence of the GP.

Main duties of the job
The post holder is required to work flexibly across the wards and discharge lounge in line with service needs. This includes reviewing patients holistically, facilitating safe and effective complex discharge planning, and managing and escalating acute illness in line with clinical competence.

Job responsibilities
The post is offered at 16 hours per week, which covers ward work/rounds and multidisciplinary meetings. There is no requirement for on‑call duties.
Person Specification
* Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice
* MBBS or equivalent
* MRCP Part 1
* Understands the principles of clinical governance – ensures patients are not put at risk
* Understands the importance of working effectively in teams
* Knowledge of UK health systems, practices and values and awareness of current issues in the NHS
* Understands the importance and impact of information systems in health care
* Has experience of working in teams
* Proven ability in all clinical areas of the specialty
* Understands the need for and appreciates the role of audit in clinical practice
* Knowledge, interest and commitment to audit
* Experience of research and interpretation of results
* Has participated in clinical audit
* Contributes to teaching and learning of others in the clinical setting
* Able to communicate effectively in written and spoken English
* Able to discuss treatment options with patients in a way they can understand
* Able to communicate with all levels of staff and patients effectively
* Able to establish good working relations with patients, carers and multidisciplinary colleagues
* Understands the responsibilities of being an employee in the NHS
