Assistant Quantity Surveyor Location: Bristol (with occasional UK travel) Sector: Construction / Fit-Out / Refurbishment / Civil Engineering The Opportunity I’m working with a well-established construction contractor who deliver projects across commercial, industrial and specialist environments (including new build, refurbishment, fit-out)). They are looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team in Bristol. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone early in their QS career to gain hands-on experience across the full commercial function — from tendering and estimating through to cost control and contract administration. Role & Responsibilities * Assist with the preparation of tender and contract documentation * Carry out cost estimating and cost analysis on live and upcoming projects * Support procurement activities, including liaising with suppliers and subcontractors * Monitor site progress and assist with valuations and interim payments * Help maintain commercial reporting tools and trackers * Support risk and value management processes * Contribute to contract administration and ensure compliance with obligations * Produce commercial reports for senior QSs and the wider management team Candidate Profile Essential: * Some previous UK experience in a QS, estimating, or commercial role (placement, internship or entry-level role welcomed) * Strong numeracy and analytical skills with good attention to detail * Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel * Organised, methodical and able to prioritise workload * Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders Desirable: * Familiarity with JCT or NEC contracts * Experience preparing bills of quantities or working with cost management software * Exposure to procurement or supply chain management in construction * Site experience in measuring works and supporting valuations What’s on Offer * Competitive salary (dependent on experience) * Ongoing training and professional development, with support toward chartership / further qualifications * Opportunity to work on technically challenging projects within high-spec environments * Long-term career progression within a growing contractor How to Apply If you’re looking for the next step in your career as an Assistant QS and want to join a supportive contractor with a strong pipeline of varied projects, please apply with your CV or call Dan at Sphere Solutions on (phone number removed)
