About Cancer Focus Northern Ireland
Cancer Focus NI is the local Northern Ireland cancer champion, supporting families affected by cancer. Our Therapeutic Cancer Support Centres are staffed by experts in cancer care and provide a welcoming environment easily accessible by those living locally. We offer free support and information to both patients and their families, working closely with the NHS and the community to raise awareness of cancer prevention.
About the Role
An experienced Art Therapist is required to deliver art‑therapy sessions for people impacted by cancer at our new Therapeutic Cancer Support Centre in Fermanagh.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver art therapy sessions at the Fermanagh Therapeutic Cancer Support Centre.
* Provide one‑to‑one art therapy sessions, including child or adult cases.
* Facilitate time‑bound art therapy groups as required.
* Support the development of a professional, comprehensive, holistic art therapy service.
* Assess individual needs using person‑centred, evidence‑based approaches.
* Plan and implement therapeutic interventions or re‑refer to other services as appropriate.
* Assist with evaluation of service effectiveness through regular review and audit.
* Work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team with shared goals, objectives, and vision.
* Adhere to the Code of Ethics of the British Association of Art Therapists and HCPC standards.
* Participate in regular external clinical supervision, provide evidence of indemnity insurance, and maintain self‑employment status.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Art Therapist with the Health Care Professions Council.
Experience
* At least two years post‑qualification experience as an Art Therapist.
* Experience facilitating a range of groups.
* Experience working with patients diagnosed with cancer and people impacted by cancer.
* Demonstrable evidence of developing and building good working relationships with individuals and organisations.
* Experience with administrative and ICT systems, including database use.
Skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work with participants with complex emotional and psychological needs.
* Plan, develop, and facilitate groups.
* Experience working within a multi‑disciplinary team.
* Maintain strict confidentiality and appropriate boundaries in all matters related to work.
* Ethically handle risk and safeguarding issues.
* Build good working relationships with individuals and organisations.
* IT proficiency, including spreadsheets and databases.

* Role meets Access NI definition of regulated activity; an Access NI Enhanced check will be obtained.
