Summary
The main purpose of this role is to manage a team to achieve the delivery of switchgear, substation, and diversion projects on the UKPN framework contract, ensuring compliance with timeframes, safety regulations, quality standards, and project specifications. The role reports to the Operations Manager or Senior Project Manager.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing multiple/major projects from inception to completion, safely, competently, and effectively, within time and budget constraints;
* Overseeing all financial aspects of projects, including costing and invoicing for additional works;
* Providing guidance to team members to ensure safe, effective, and efficient operations;
* Monitoring and reporting project progress to clients as required;
* Ensuring team adherence to safety rules, procedures, method statements, and risk assessments;
* Coordinating with third parties to facilitate smooth project execution;
* Maintaining site safety at all times and conducting risk assessments;
* Reporting SHE concerns to the SHE team;
* Managing staff performance, identifying training needs, and conducting safety inspections;
* Ensuring statutory records, certificates, licenses, and notices are up to date;
* Preparing project Safety, CDM plans, and Risk Assessments as part of the project plan.
Candidate requirements:
* Extensive experience in project management;
* Knowledge of the DNO network - EPN UKPN;
* Understanding of distribution substation equipment such as transformers, switchgear, and distribution boards;
* Experience with switchgear, substation, or asset replacement projects;
* Strong understanding of project financials;
* Knowledge of Health & Safety practices and their practical application;
* CDM knowledge;
* Qualifications such as NVQ / ONC / HNC or higher in a relevant field;
* Safety certifications like IOSH, NEBOSH, SMSTS, or equivalent;
* NRSWA accreditation;
* Project management qualification (preferred);
* UKPN authorizations (beneficial).
