Background – About ALT HAN Co: ​ The Alternative HAN Company (Alt HAN Co) is a not-for-profit company jointly owned by Energy Suppliers. It operates through a Forum of supplier representatives, and a Board. Costs are recovered from energy consumers, via charges levied on all licensed energy suppliers. ​ We were established in 2016 for the sole purpose of finding an industry-wide solution for smart metering in hard-to-reach houses, apartment blocks and commercial premises. Specifically, where the broadcast signal from a smart meter communications hub is not strong enough to reach the gas meter or smart devices in the home. This problem affects around 5% of premises – and if not addressed could leave behind more than a million customers in the transition to a smarter, low-carbon energy sector. ​ Alt HAN Co has now moved from a Safe Launch standing into full Mass Roll Out. ​ ​ The Role: Alt HAN is seeking an experienced Operations Co-ordinator to work on an exciting project to establish an innovative service that enables smart metering installations in multi occupancy buildings where existing metering equipment can not be upgraded due to spatial constraints. (‘Crowded Meter Rooms’). The role will oversee the day-to-day delivery of the individual cases working closely with Meter Equipment Managers (MEM’s) and other external stakeholders. As Operations Co-ordinator you will enact the role of “Service Manager” as defined in the NEC 4 Term Service Contract ensuring that MEM’s deliver the service in line with SLA’s and manage any case specific escalations as they arise. ​ Job Description: General administration of a complex project including: Act as a delegate to the Service Manager to administer works being undertaken in line with the NEC 4 contract. Stakeholder engagement both internally and externally with Meter Equipment Managers, Energy Suppliers and Network Operators. Preparing and maintaining of project documentation throughout the project lifecycle Planning, scheduling, controlling, and reporting key project activities to internal and external stakeholders. Ensuring that comprehensive reporting is prepared and maintained. Gathering and analysis of data. Data management and validation. Supporting the Crowed Meter Room Manager and wider team. Align to timelines within the project lifecycle. Positively engage all levels of stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Confidence dealing with challenging stakeholders. Other ad hoc duties ​ ​ Professional Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills: ​ Essential: ​ Demonstrable experience coordinating day-to-day delivery of workstreams/cases within a project, programme, or operational service environment. Proven experience in a busy administrative/operations support role, with strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Strong IT literacy, including competent use of Microsoft Dynamics, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) and the ability to learn new case management/reporting systems quickly. Deliver tasks to agreed deadlines, prioritising effectively, and managing multiple activities concurrently. Experience engaging and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, including handling queries, managing expectations, and communicating progress clearly. Strong time management, planning and coordination skills, with the ability to work independently and escalate issues appropriately. Confidence dealing with challenging stakeholders, using tact and resilience to achieve outcomes while maintaining professionalism. Working knowledge of operating within contractual/SLA frameworks (e.g., supporting a Service Manager role), ensuring suppliers/partners deliver in line with agreed service levels. Desirable: Experience working in the energy sector and/or with regulated utilities. Knowledge of smart metering (SMETS), communications hubs/HAN concepts, and common installation challenges in hard-to-reach or multi-occupancy premises. Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, lookups) and/or experience using reporting/visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI). A project management qualification or training (e.g., PRINCE2 Foundation/Practitioner, APM PFQ, Agile awareness). Experience using case management, CRM, document management, or workflow tools to track and evidence delivery. Analytical capability to assess case information, identify gaps/anomalies, and support feasibility/triage decisions using data and evidence. ​ ​ ​ Personal Attributes: Essential Excellent communication skills to work with complex and diverse stakeholders and drive decision making and collaboration. Excellent interpersonal skills to work with stakeholders, data specialists, and business area leads. A great attention to detail and the ability to quickly spot anomalies in big sets of data.
