Bodyshop Manager
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
*
Oversee the full bodyshop operation including estimators, technicians, painters, and support staff
*
Plan and control workflow to maximise productivity and minimise vehicle off-road time (VOR)
*
Monitor job progress, repair quality, and turnaround times
*
Ensure compliance with manufacturer standards, insurer requirements, and health & safety regulations
People Management
*
Lead, motivate, and develop the bodyshop team
*
Conduct performance reviews, training plans, and disciplinary procedures where required
*
Manage staff rotas, holiday planning, and absence control
*
Promote a positive, high-performance culture
Financial & Commercial Control
*
Manage bodyshop profitability, labour efficiency, and cost control
*
Monitor KPIs including utilisation, recovery rates, cycle time, and CSI
*
Control parts usage, paint materials, and sublet costs
*
Ensure accurate invoicing, job costing, and estimate authorisation
Customer & Insurer Relations
*
Deliver exceptional customer service and resolve complaints effectively
*
Liaise with insurance companies, engineers, and fleet partners
*
Ensure estimates and repairs are accurate, transparent, and approved
Compliance & Quality
*
Ensure adherence to health & safety, environmental, and COSHH regulations
*
Maintain manufacturer and insurance accreditations
*
Drive continuous improvement in quality and efficiency
Skills & Experience Required
*
Proven experience as a Bodyshop Manager or Assistant Bodyshop Manager
*
Strong knowledge of accident repair processes and estimating systems (e.g. Audatex, GT Estimate)
*
Excellent leadership, organisation, and communication skills
*
Commercially focused with strong KPI and financial awareness
*
Confident dealing with insurers, customers, and senior management
*
ATA / IMI qualifications desirable
