A brand-new specialist school for children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs is opening in Autumn 2026 and we are looking for an experienced SENCO to help bring this vision to life.
This is a rare opportunity to shape a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious provision from the very beginning. The school will support learners aged 519 and will grow to a capacity of 120 students, offering a safe, enriching and aspirational environment where every young person can thrive.
The Role
As SENCO, you will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering high?quality SEND provision. Working closely with the Headteacher, youll ensure that every pupils EHCP outcomes are met, interventions are effective, and staff are confident and well?supported.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing referrals and the pre?admission process with families and internal teams.
* Leading SEND policy and provision, ensuring all statutory duties are met.
* Coordinating resources, staff and therapeutic support to meet individual needs.
* Preparing for and participating in annual reviews and case conferences.
* Driving best practice through CPD, mentoring and coaching.
* Supporting strategic development and contributing to whole?school improvement.
This is a leadership role with the scope to influence culture, practice and outcomes from day one.
About You
Were looking for a passionate, knowledgeable SENCO who can lead with confidence and inspire others.
Essential qualifications:
* QTS or equivalent.
Essential experience:
* At least 3 years effective experience as a SENCO, ideally within an SEN setting.
* Leadership of a significant area, phase or inclusion provision.
* Proven success in raising standards across a whole school.
* Strong team leadership and collaborative working skills.
* Excellent communication across a range of audiences.
* Experience managing complex situations and resolving conflict.
* Effective partnership working with external agencies.
