We are looking for a General Surgeon to join our modern hospital at Emerson's Green, Bristol.
As a our Consultant, you will take pride in the quality of your work, be involved in clinical governance and audit, and be a good team player who is flexible and willing to meet the needs of the service and colleagues.
We are accepting full-time and part-time applications.
Our full-time Consultants work a 4-day week of 10 hours per day, aligned with a normal 10 PA job plan. There are opportunities for additional work and financial incentives for efficient lists. The on-call is light, mainly based on advice to the Resident Medical Officer, covered between the team. Support PAs are included in the job plan along with monthly governance meetings.

What you'll be doing
The post holder will perform a range of general surgical procedures on patients referred to the Treatment Centre, following protocols and working practices.
Applicants should demonstrate high operative skill in:
* Inguinal, Femoral, and other Hernia Repair – both Open and Laparoscopic
* Haemorrhoidectomy and other Perianal Procedures
* Cholecystectomy – both Open and Laparoscopic
* Varicose Vein Surgery
* Minor Surgical Procedures
Duties include pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative activities, along with clinical supporting work. There may be opportunities for additional clinical work beyond the basic contract.
What we look for in you
You will be a UK-registered medical professional, listed on the Specialist GMC register, with evidence of specialty training.
* UK registered Medical Degree
* MBChB or equivalent qualification
* Evidence of academic achievement
* FRCS or equivalent
* Full and Specialist GMC Registration in relevant specialty
* Wide training and experience in surgery
* Ability to offer expert clinical opinions within general surgery
* Ability to take full and independent responsibility for service delivery without supervision
* Relevant experience and training in laparoscopic procedures
