Clinical Fellow ST3+ in Rheumatology

The post is available from August 2026 for a fixed term of 12 months.
This post would suit doctors who have a keen interest in Rheumatology and there will be opportunities for further experience, teaching and quality improvement work. The post is an ideal opportunity for a post MRCP candidate looking to take a future post in Rheumatology.
Main duties of the job
The clinical duties of the post include the following:
* Four outpatient clinics per week alongside supervising consultant present on the day
* Afternoons spent reviewing any ward referrals, and doing related clinical admin e.g. signing clinic letters, responding to patient and GP advice queries, signing high‑cost drug prescriptions, reviewing patient results, etc.
* Wednesday afternoon meetings - slightly ad hoc but usually no more than twice a month. Includes departmental clinical governance and educational meetings
* Monday and Thursday afternoon CTD MDT and radiology meetings on MS Teams 1:20‑2:30pm respectively 3‑4pm
* Optional monthly Grand Round attendance Wednesday lunchtime
Job responsibilities
Supervision: the post-holder will act under the supervision of one of the consultant colleagues; each day (aside from during consultant annual leave) there is at least one consultant on site who will additionally be doing clinic in the morning and associated tasks in the afternoon. The post-holder will be expected to discuss cases seen and review management plans with consultants, and ward in‑reach reviews will also be discussed or reviewed together with the consultant of the day. The post holder, on rare occasions, will offer telephone support for PRH inpatients, if there is no cover on site.

Experience and Qualifications
* Basic Medical Degree
* Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
* Higher Degree
Clinical Skills and Experience
* Experience in rheumatology and managing rheumatology acute cases.
* Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equalities issues
* A good background in GIM
