About the Role
You will be involved in a variety of heritage projects encompassing remedial repairs, restoration, and conservation of historic brick, stone, and stucco façades. The work also includes intricate refurbishment, alteration, and adaptation of listed buildings. Working closely with managers and site supervisors, your tasks will reflect your skills and experience, including:
* All lime mortar brickwork pointing styles such as weatherstruck, flush, and penny roll; tuckpointing experience preferred but not essential.
* Restoration work involving brick replacements, in-situ mortar repairs, sympathetic structural repairs, and selective rebuilding of damaged brickwork.
* Stonework restoration—including replacements, indent repairs, mortar repairs, repointing ashlar stones, profiled repairs, and stone carving when needed.
* Stucco restoration covering plain and rusticated repairs, replacements, and creating new moulded decorative stucco elements like cornices, bandings, and window/door surrounds.
* Supporting condition surveys and reports to identify repair requirements for historic building materials.
* Reviewing, interpreting, querying when necessary, and executing works according to technical drawings and specifications.
