The company operates a growing portfolio of five golf facilities across the UK. Founder owned, with a turnover of £7 million and ambitious expansion plans via acquisition, the company seeks a commercially driven Part-Time Financial Director / CFO to enhance the financial function and reporting structures.
Role Overview
The Part-Time Financial Director will report to the owner of the business and work closely with an existing small finance team. They will play a critical role in strengthening financial operations, ensuring robust reporting to both internal stakeholders and external partners, particularly lenders. The ideal candidate will have experience in private equity or debt-backed businesses of a similar scale, supporting the acquisition-led growth strategy. They must also possess strong accounting expertise and financial modelling skills to improve forecasting and decision-making.
This role offers flexibility, with the opportunity to increase or decrease working days based on business needs and performance. It is ideal for an experienced finance professional seeking a part-time role with significant responsibility the potential to scale up as the company grows.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Oversight & Strategy
2. Enhance financial planning, reporting, and control processes.
3. Improve the company’s financial function to support growth and acquisitions.
4. Develop a structured reporting system for internal stakeholders and external lenders.
5. Implement and refine financial models to support strategic decision-making.
6. Reporting & Compliance
7. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
8. Support compliance with financial regulations and debt covenants.
9. Provide financial insights to the Board and key decision-makers.
10. Accounting & Financial Modelling
11. Oversee financial statements, budgeting, and cash flow management.
12. Develop and maintain detailed financial models to assess business performance and acquisition opportunities.
13. Implement best practices in financial forecasting and scenario planning.
14. Stakeholder Management
15. Serve as the key financial liaison between lenders, investors, and management.
16. Collaborate with the MD (based in Ascot) and finance team (based in Morpeth) as well as external advisors.
17. Acquisition Support
18. Conduct financial due diligence for acquisitions.
19. Assist in integrating newly acquired businesses into the existing structure.
Candidate Requirements
20. Proven experience as a Finance Director, CFO, or senior finance professional in a growing SME.
21. Experience of financial systems, particularly Xero and QuickBooks.
22. Experience in private equity or debt-backed businesses is preferred but not essential. Experience within real estate operating businesses with multiple sites would be favourable.
23. Extensive experience with accounting, financial modelling, and forecasting.
24. Experience with acquisitions, financial structuring, and lender reporting.
25. Regular travel to Ascot (MD) and Morpeth (finance team) is required.
26. Commercially minded with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
