An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as the Team Leader for the Blenheim Community Midwifery Team. You will be responsible for leading a small team of Midwives and Maternity Support Workers in the Oxford City area to provide a community midwifery service. You will work closely with the Matron for Community Services and Deputy Head of Midwifery for Community, Public Health & Safeguarding. We are looking for someone passionate about community midwifery and women-centred, individualised care. The post holder will need to be invested in nurturing the team to encourage a positive working environment.
The team lead has continuing responsibility for the management of the community team and services in their area or equivalent sphere of midwifery practice. This includes assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards. The Midwife will facilitate innovative and evidence-based midwifery practice through professional leadership and supporting the clinical team. The Midwife will have managerial responsibility for a group of staff working within their practice area. The Midwife will act as a credible and professional role model and encourage and empower staff to develop personally and professionally to achieve their maximum potential.
The Midwife will liaise with all members of the multidisciplinary team and facilitate a collaborative approach to women, their babies and families' care to promote the close integration of community and hospital-based care. The Midwife will report directly to and develop close working relationships with the Matron for Community and the Deputy Head of Midwifery on operational and clinical issues. The Midwife will liaise with the OBU Midwifery Education Team to develop an effective learning environment for students and assist the Director of Midwifery / Deputy Head of Midwifery in achieving strategic objectives.
Responsibilities include fulfilling the role of a midwife as defined by WHO and NMC, managing a clinical caseload, maintaining clinical skills, participating in evidence-based practice, motivating staff, acting as a role model, liaising with colleagues and agencies, and ensuring quality and safety standards are met. Managerial duties involve resource management, recruitment, staff development, audit participation, data management, and budget monitoring. The role also encompasses professional development, education, research, health and safety, and ensuring confidentiality and equality.
