We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join our school team. This role involves supporting students who display challenging behaviour, helping them to engage positively with learning and develop essential social and emotional skills. You will play a key role in creating a safe, structured, and supportive environment where all students can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with behavioural needs
Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies
Support students in developing self-regulation, social skills, and positive behaviours
Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to support individual learning plans
De-escalate challenging situations calmly and effectively
Monitor and record student progress and behaviour
Build positive, trusting relationships with students
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour (school-based or similar setting preferred)
A calm, patient, and resilient approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
The ability to remain professional under pressure
An understanding of safeguarding and child protection
A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
Desirable (but not essential):
Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, or youth work
Experience with SEN, SEMH, or autism
Training in behaviour management techniques (e.g., Team Teach)
