Northcroft School is seeking to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic, and imaginative Humanities classroom practitioner who understands that students take individual and multiple pathways in their learning. The candidate should be committed to doing their best for the young people they work with.
The ideal applicant will be willing to gain knowledge of the KS2 curriculum and how it supports progression to Key Stage 3, as well as KS3 and KS4 curricula, ensuring gaps in prior learning are closed. Northcroft School values teachers who can adapt the curriculum to deliver a primary approach to Key Stage 3 learners, supported by a dedicated team and West Berkshire Local Authority.
The school aims to inspire students to develop a deep understanding of historical events, peoples, and periods. Students benefit from a dedicated enrichment curriculum alongside the History and Geography curricula. The Humanities role includes supporting non-specialist teachers in identifying missed prior learning and developing plans to expose students to this knowledge, all while teaching an age-appropriate curriculum.
For KS3 students, the national curriculum will be delivered through the Oak Academy Scheme, progressing onto GCSEs via the AQA scheme. For students with low attainment, standalone certifications will be offered. Northcroft School is a specialist school for learners with multiple needs such as social, emotional, and mental health needs, past trauma, ASD, and ADHD. The school prides itself on high expectations and aspirations, providing an inspiring environment where everyone can learn and achieve. The curriculum is well-designed and individualised, offering ambitious and exciting opportunities.
You will be part of a highly effective, supportive team that shares best practices regularly.
