Role Overview
As a Carbon Consultant, you’ll help clients manage the challenges of climate change by delivering carbon accounting, decarbonisation strategies, whole life carbon assessments, sustainability disclosures and climate transition planning. You’ll work with specialists to develop high‑quality technical outputs and support our growing digital, data‑driven approach to carbon analysis and reporting.
In this role, you’ll contribute to greenhouse gas inventories, carry out Whole Life Carbon Assessments using tools such as eTool and OneClick LCA, and help shape carbon management and decarbonisation plans aligned with recognised standards. You’ll collaborate with design teams to embed low‑carbon and circularity principles into projects, engage with clients and stakeholders, and translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
You’ll also support assurance activities, stay up to date with evolving carbon policy and best practice, and participate in Jacobs’ global carbon and sustainability Communities of Practice.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Climate Change or a related discipline. You should bring at least two years of experience working in environmental or sustainability roles, ideally with some exposure to carbon management or climate‑mitigation activities. A foundational understanding of recognised carbon management standards—such as PAS 2080 or ISO 14064—will be important, alongside a strong interest in developing deeper expertise in this area.
You will be expected to contribute to net‑zero initiatives, carbon accounting work, or life cycle assessment activities gained through consultancy, industry, research or government experience. Strong analytical skills are essential, including confidence working with datasets, spreadsheets and digital tools to support accurate and transparent reporting.
Clear, structured technical writing will be a key part of your role, as you will help produce reports and client‑ready deliverables. You should be a confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and engage professionally with clients and stakeholders. Above all, you will bring a commitment to quality, a proactive approach to problem‑solving and a passion for delivering meaningful outcomes for clients, communities and the environment.
