Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will be able to pick up advertised bank shifts and will be:
* Responsible for effective patient flow; both unscheduled and scheduled admissions.
* Work in conjunction with the Emergency Department, Acute Assessment Units and other members of the Patient Flow Team to ensure national patient access standards are met within a quality framework.
* To monitor the trigger factors associated with and when necessary implement the trust's Bed Escalation Framework in order to minimise bed crises through effective planning.
* Responsible for the out of hours operational management of the Trust site, implementing policies and procedures as required and providing leadership and support to Trust employees.
* To provide senior nursing support and professional and clinical advice to all areas within the site out of hours.
* Team members work over 7 days and night duties, with 3 long shifts per week; bank holidays and positions are available at both sites.

Job responsibilities
The post holder is responsible for the provision of a dynamic, innovative and effective Clinical, Site and Patient Flow Service across the Trust.
Responsibility for the management of the emergency and elective admission process across the Trust, safe & appropriate patient placement, and the achievement of related local and national standards.
Responsibility for the out of hours operational management of the Trust site, implementing policies and procedures as required and providing leadership and support to Trust employees.
To participate in and co-ordinate the Trust's Emergency response Teams to Fire, Security Alerts, cardiac Arrests and other clinical emergencies, and to be responsible for the co-ordination and first line management of major and serious untoward incidents, as required.
Responsibility for a range of HR management issues for the junior staff within the team.
To effectively manage patient flows within the Trust and for the initiation of the bed escalation framework as necessary.
To ensure effective and efficient management of site capacity, both for unscheduled and scheduled admissions.
To contribute to the effective use of resources and capacity in the health and social care system at a local level.
To accurately record site capacity and demand information.
To provide out of hours leadership and support to staff across the site.
Person Specification
Experience
* Management experience at Band 6 level
* Experience of medical nursing
* HR management
* Current knowledge of professional developments. Managing change and service improvement. Knowledge of care quality agenda and its implications for nursing.
* Working in an acute hospital setting
Special Skills & Knowledge
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse ENB 998 (or equivalent) Nursing Degree or working towards or equivalent experience at band 6/7.
Special Requirements
* Good interpersonal and communication skill. Able to travel across Trust sites to meet the requirements of the post
* Designated Nursing Officer trained, Advanced life Support Fire response training
Statutory Registration
* RN recognised by NMC
