Job Summary
The Bristol Urological Institute wishes to appoint 2 Senior Clinical Fellows in Robotic Pelvic Oncology Urology, both posts commencing October 2027 for 12 months. This post is best suited for trainees at the end of their urological training or post-CCT who wish to pursue a sub-specialty career in Robotic Pelvic Onco-Urology. There is opportunity to participate in ongoing research in the department. Overseas applicants should be eligible for GMC registration and have IELTS minimum overall score 7.5. Main duties
The post holder will participate in a 1:14 on-call rota, and will be responsible for the day-to-day management of ward patients. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the service activities within the department.
Teaching
The Bristol Urological Institute has an active teaching programme. Fellows and Registrars are expected to actively participate in teaching and to undertake sessions for medical students and junior doctors as required. In certain circumstances you may be asked to cover a colleague’s clinical duties to enable teaching sessions.
Research
A 1/2 day dedicated research session is provided for all fellows/SPRs. Fellows are expected to participate in ongoing projects and undertake at least one audit project during training.

About Us
Southmead Hospital offers complex and core urological services through the Bristol Urological Institute (BUI). The Institute is a tertiary referral centre with a global reputation in surgical education and research, including robotic surgery for urological cancers, minimally invasive kidney stone surgery, and other advanced procedures. The BUI coordinates and participates in international clinical trials and has a strong research profile. The Department serves as the centre for complex urological cancer care for the ASW Cancer Network and has a large urological cancer workload. The BUI is a regional centre for testicular and penile cancer services and has 3 robotic systems.

Person Specification
Essential
* MBBS or equivalent
* GMC registration
* FRCS (Urol) or equivalent
* Recent UK hospital experience in urology (5+ years) and ability to communicate in English
* Evidence of ability to communicate with patients and colleagues, and to work within a multi-disciplinary team
* Competent in managing elective and emergency urology patients and basic urology procedures
* Evidence of CME/training progression
* Ability to fulfil duties including on-call commitments; fluent in English; flexible working patterns
* Current UK professional registration
* Willingness to seek help from senior colleagues as appropriate
Desirable
* Higher academic qualification (e.g. MD or MS)
* Experience in pelvic oncology or upper tract laparoscopy/robotic surgery
* Experience with audits and research publications
* Good oral and written presentation skills; ability to function under pressure
* Possession of ECDL or equivalent
