Overview
Practice Educator - Clinical Skills and Widening Participation
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us. Please see below for the detailed job description of the role.
Main duties and responsibilities
We have an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse or allied health professional to join the Skills for Practice team here at UHS. The Skills for Practice team is a small but dynamic group, working in many different areas from career support, widening participation and clinical skills. We provide training in clinical skills to undergraduate medical students as well as registered healthcare professionals who require enhanced skills training.
The post holder will be responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating clinical skills teaching to undergraduate medical students and trust staff. While the main focus is classroom-based teaching, there will be times when you work with learners on the ward or in clinical areas. In addition to delivering clinical skills training, the post holder will be required to support the Trust widening participation, career experience and career activity. The widening participation agenda supports individuals to access employment or education, and we work with several partners to enable this. We offer on-site/off-site and virtual career experience to young people to help them make career decisions. The off-site career experience may require travel to local venues.
Specific to this role is suitability for agile working, a mixture of on-site and remote working. We are open to discussing flexibility in hours; please discuss at interview what flexibility you need and what’s possible for the role and service.
