We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and driven Head and Neck (HANC) oncology dietitian to join our Cancer and Palliative Care (CAPC)Dietetic team, to cover a maternity leave. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to lead the HANC dietetic service including the management of both inpatients and outpatients from curative, surgical and palliative pathways as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team.
We are looking for a passionate and driven team lead with experience working within in HANC cancer, service development and leadership to apply for this 37.5 hour band 7 post. Alongside the band 7 Upper GI/ Hepatobiliary Lead, this post will share team lead roles and responsibilities for the CAPC dietetic team.

As a senior specialist HANC oncology dietitian, you will
* Be clinically responsible for the nutritional care and management of HANC patients and independently plan organise and prioritise patient related and professional demands daily.
* Provide an expert nutritional support and dietary education service for HANC oncology patients in Cornwall.
* To act as a specialised resource on nutrition and cancer for HANC patients, carers, medical staff, nursing staff, and other health care professionals at regional and national level.
* To provide education and training to medical staff, nursing staff and other health care professionals in the Trust.
* To provide team lead management responsibilities alongside the HANC clinical lead role
* To take an active role in the research, audit and monitoring of this new service

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
* Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent
* HCPC registered
* Evidence of further formal study e.g. Postgraduate qualifications, (Postgraduate certificate/Diploma, Masters modules, or equivalent management qualification) such as PENG course.
* Clinical Supervisory skills course for student training
* Membership of British Dietetic Association including specialist group membership
Experience
* Significant post qualification experience in HANC at band 7 level
* Highly developed clinical skills and knowledge of cancer and cancer treatments.
* Comprehensive experience of enteral feeding including management of home enterally fed patients
* Ability to demonstrate highly developed leadership skills
* Proven experience of managing a service or change process
* Able to work and lead under externally applied pressures e.g. deadlines, competing demands and priorities
* Highly developed skills in managing staff, including managing challenging behaviours, emotive situations, (e.g. Attendance management, grief, illness, etc.)
* Highly developed communication and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate contentious or complex information effectively, including at times when there are barriers to communication e.g. When negotiating changes to working practices, managing patient/service delivery complaints, or during complex Human Resource situations e.g. Disciplinary/capability procedures
* Comprehensive experience as a clinical educator of undergraduate students
* Extensive experience of working within a multidisciplinary team, an in-depth understanding of their roles and respect for the other professionals within the team.
* Experience of working as part of the nutrition support team managing patients on parenteral nutrition

* Extended role in enteral feeding tube management e.g nasogastric tube placement, RIG care
