Engineering Design & Performance Manager (Mechanical)
£55,000 - £65,000 plus benefits (Work Level 5)

Responsibilities
* Provide technical guidance on mechanical building engineering services across Coop's diverse property portfolio, advising on engineering strategy, maintenance, design standards, technical specifications and compliance obligations.
* Serve as SME in mechanical building engineering services, providing technical leadership and driving innovation across the estate.
* Help keep engineering standards up to scratch—reviewing, updating and managing them across the business and providing technical assurance from a compliance perspective against Coop legal obligations.
* Lead on technical sign-off for projects, ensuring everything meets engineering standards.
* Identify trends and opportunities to improve processes, especially in investment workstreams.
* Lead technical matters internally, supporting cost-saving initiatives by coordinating value engineering efforts.
* Support property delivery teams, visiting construction sites to carry out quality inspections.
* Drive change by exploring new ideas and innovations—from supplier visits to market research—supporting progress toward sustainability and net-zero goals.
* Build your profile and relationships across the business with time and autonomy to develop in your own way.
What you’ll need
* A degree in a relevant mechanical engineering discipline and either Chartered Engineer status or progressing towards ECUK registration.
* Detailed knowledge of legal compliance, ideally in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, LEV, Gas and water hygiene (P901, P903 preferred).
* Extensive knowledge of current Building Regulations, mechanical systems, design, specification, and maintenance requirements.
* Strong communication and engagement skills with the ability to forge meaningful relationships with internal and external partners.
* Proven experience working with large and complex organisations with a diverse property portfolio.
