Pattison School is seeking a dedicated Learning and Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a child in our school who has a diagnosis of Autism and ADHD. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in supporting a bright and engaging pupil with high potential, helping them to access learning and thrive in our nurturing school environment.
About the Role
You will:
* Provide individualised support to the pupil across the school day, including in-class assistance, break/lunchtime supervision, and transitions between activities.
* Use strategies tailored to the pupil’s needs, supporting emotional regulation, communication, focus, and social interaction.
* Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider staff team to implement strategies from the EHCP and other support plans.
* Help create a calm, safe, and structured environment that promotes confidence, independence, and learning.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
* Has experience working with children with Autism and/or ADHD, ideally in a school or educational setting.
* Demonstrates empathy, consistency, and the ability to build a strong, trusting relationship with a child.
* Can remain calm under pressure and respond positively to behaviour that may at times be challenging.
* Is a good communicator and team player, with a flexible and proactive approach.
A relevant Level 2 or 3 teaching assistant qualification is desirable but not essential. Training will be provided.
