This is a senior opportunity for a Chartered Town Planner seeking autonomy, influence, and a clear stake in long-term success.
This employee-owned, multi-disciplinary planning and design practice is recognised for creating successful, sustainable places across the UK. Working alongside architects, urban designers, landscape architects and masterplanners, the team provides strategic planning advice across a broad range of sectors, with a strong focus on collaboration, positive impact, and high-quality placemaking.
Role & Responsibilities
1. Lead and manage multiple complex planning application-based projects across major development proposals
2. Provide strategic, evidence-based planning advice to public and private sector clients
3. Act as a trusted advisor, building strong client relationships with commercial awareness
4. Contribute to the senior leadership of the planning team, supporting strategic objectives and growth
5. Assemble bids, secure new commissions and contribute to wider winning work strategies
6. Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams including architecture, urban design, masterplanning and landscape architecture
7. Support the Head of Town Planning, Directors and sector leaders on team development and business planning
8. Manage project financial performance, resources and delivery standards
9. Mentor, inspire and support the development of team members
10. Uphold ethical standards and contribute to a culture shaped by People, Planet and Purpose
Required Skills & Experience
11. Chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute MRTPI
12. Minimum of five years’ post-qualification experience
13. Strong track record in development management and/or strategic planning
14. Experience leading major or complex planning projects
15. Proven ability to manage client relationships and provide clear strategic advice
16. Experience managing, mentoring or developing people or teams
17. Commercial awareness with experience managing project or planning application financial performance
18. Broad knowledge of key planning sectors
19. Experience in education, healthcare, institutional, mixed-use urban regeneration, tech and innovation sectors would be advantageous
20. Collaborative and proactive approach to multi-disciplinary working
21. Passion for delivering high-quality planning outcomes and well-designed sustainable places
