We are looking for a dynamic, motivated and enthusiastic Palliative Medicine Specialty Doctor to join the North Wales specialist palliative care team.
This is a permanent speciality doctor role within the Palliative Medicine department. The appointee should have previous general medical experience and will work with the senior medical staff and clinical nurse specialists as part of the Specialist Palliative Care Team, to support both community and hospital inpatient services in North East Wales. This is a full time position, of 10 sessions per week, based with the team in the Maelor Hospital, Wrexham.

8x DCC sessions within the hospital and community and 2x SPA
This is a permanent speciality doctor role within the Palliative Medicine department.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
The Specialist Palliative Care Team (East) is based in the Wrexham Maelor Hospital. The team provides specialist support, care and advice to patients and their families living with life limiting illness, in a variety of settings, including the patient’s own home, acute and community hospitals and residential and nursing homes. The team also works in close partnership with the local adult hospices in North Wales and across the border.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* MBChB or equivalent Full registration with GMC Valid Mandatory Life Support (or above)
Desirable criteria
* Postgraduate experience in Palliative Care Working towards formal qualification in Palliative Care
Experience
Essential criteria
* Appropriate experience in training grade post of at lease 2 years or more at FY2/CT or above
Desirable criteria
* Experience at Senior CT, StR Specialty Trainee or Specialty Doctor in Palliative Medicine
Skills
Essential criteria
* Good communication skills General medical skills / procedures appropriate to experience Ability to write clear concise notes/present clinical histories Supervisory Skills
Desirable criteria
* Keen to develop teaching skills Computer skills Communication Skills course or qualification
Knowledge
Essential Criteria
* Experience/knowledge of palliative care to appropriate level Awareness of interface between secondary and primary care
Desirable criteria
* Working towards formal postgraduate qualification Some experience in audit/research Experience of community services and working in primary care
