Join Southern Housing as a Wastewater Maintenance Service Engineer
Are you ready to take on a vital role in keeping our wastewater infrastructure running safely and efficiently? Reporting to the Environmental Services and Transport Manager, youll be at the heart of maintaining and commissioning essential assets across Kent, Sussex, and London. From sewage and groundwater pumping stations to treatment plants, sump pumps, and interceptors, youll ensure everything operates to the highest standards.
This hands-on role combines planned preventative maintenance with reactive repairs, fault diagnosis, and the replacement of motors, pumps, and control panels. Youll also work with AC/DC telemetry units and blower systems, making sure our systems stay reliable and compliant.
Well equip you with the tools, machinery, uniform, and PPE you need to succeed. In return, were looking for someone who can work outdoors in all weathers, handle physically demanding tasks, and take pride in delivering a first-class service to our residents and communities.
This role is Based at our Sittingbourne office, with travel to London and Sussex.
What you'll need
* A Level 3 Electrical Maintenance qualification (City & Guilds 2357 or equivalent).
* At least three years experience in mechanical engineering, ideally in wastewater systems.
* Confidence working with pumps, valves, pipework, control panels, and blower systems.
* Experience commissioning treatment plants and diagnosing faults.
* Ability to read wiring diagrams and work with PLCs and telemetry units.
* Confined Space Entry and High-Pressure Water Jetting certification.
* A Class 2 HGV licence this is essential for the role.
Skills:
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
* Able to write clear reports and complete accurate job sheets.
* Organised, reliable, and able to manage your time well.
* Comfortable talking to residents, contractors, and colleagues.
* A full UK driving licence (with no more than 6 points and no serious offences in the last 10 years), and at least two years driving experience.
