Role Overview:

We're seeking a pipeline-obsessed B2B Marketing Director who lives and breathes lead generation. This is not a brand-first role—this is about creating qualified opportunities that convert to revenue. You'll work hand-in-glove with our Sales Directors to fill the funnel and accelerate our growth trajectory.

Key responsibilities:

Demand Generation & Pipeline (Core Focus)

1. Transform marketing into an efficient, data-driven demand and pipeline generation engine
2. Set meaningful metrics aligned with industry benchmarks and showcase strong marketing analytical skills
3. Implement best-in-class systems, tools, and marketing automation to scale efficiently
4. Collaborate closely with Sales Directors on lead qualification, handoff processes, and account prioritisation
5. Track and optimise every pound spent against pipeline contribution and revenue impact

Field Marketing & Events

6. Design and execute a high-impact events strategy (conferences, roundtables, executive dinners, webinars) that creates pipeline
7. Generate qualified leads through strategic event participation and sponsorships
8. Oversee field marketing initiatives to support customer engagement, thought leadership, and champion building for C-level business leaders
9. Create repeatable event playbooks that Sales can leverage for account penetration
10. Manage event ROI and cost-per-lead metrics ruthlessly

Customer Advocacy & Case Study Engine

11. Collaborate across the business to identify opportunities for content and customer advocacy
12. Build a systematic customer advocacy program that generates referencable success stories
13. Leverage our marquee client partnerships for co-branded content, webinars, press releases, and social amplification
14. Coach senior client leaders to become vocal advocates on social media and at industry events
15. Create video testimonials, written case studies, and joint speaking opportunities
16. Turn customer wins into lead generation machines

Content Marketing

17. Develop high-quality, engaging content that supports the sales process and shortens deal cycles
18. Create content that demonstrates thought leadership and positions Cambridge Spark as the AI skills partner of choice
19. Measure and analyse content performance, leveraging insights to optimise strategy and personalise the buyer's journey
20. Maximise outstanding video content opportunities and support expansion of the Data & AI Mastery podcast

Budget & Analytics

21. Manage marketing budget, optimising spend across channels for maximum ROI
22. Take a rigorous analytical approach to all B2B marketing initiatives and planning
23. Liaise with teams across the business on systems and processes to improve productivity and efficiency

Leadership & Team Development

24. Lead and inspire a lean, high-performing marketing team (2-4 direct reports initially)
25. Set vision, strategy, and clear performance metrics aligned with revenue goals
26. Mentor team members and foster a culture of experimentation, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement
27. Develop your team's capabilities in demand generation, events, customer advocacy, and content

Candidate Specification:

Essential

28. You've led B2B marketing for a scaling tech, SaaS, or EdTech organisation (7+ years experience)
29. You leverage AI and automation to scale marketing efficiency, personalisation, and campaign performance without proportionally scaling headcount
30. You have deep expertise in demand generation, developing marketing activities to attract specific high priority prospect clients, field marketing, and content strategy
31. You have a proven track record running field marketing and events that convert to revenue
32. You've built customer advocacy programs that generate leads and shorten sales cycles
33. You've managed significant marketing budgets (£500K+) and can point to examples of exceptional ROI
34. You have management experience leading teams of 2-10+ people—you inspire through vision and lead from the front, while also being ready to roll up your sleeves and dive into the details
35. You enjoy developing others and have built high-performing teams

37. You're highly ambitious with an inquisitive mind and strong work ethic
38. You understand B2B buying cycles in complex enterprise sales (ideally EdTech, SaaS, or professional services)
39. You're obsessive about metrics: cost-per-lead, lead-to-opportunity conversion, pipeline velocity, event ROI
40. You're comfortable working closely with Sales—you speak their language and align on goals

Desirable

41. Experience marketing to C-suite decision-makers
42. Demonstrated acumen in AI transformation, workforce transformation, education or professional development sectors

47. You love proving your impact with hard numbers
48. You can do more with less—thrive in a lean, fast-moving environment
49. You want to be a practitioner of AI tools while helping others learn AI skills
50. You value creating tangible business outcomes over brand campaigns

This role is not for you if you are:

51. A brand strategists focused on awareness over leads
52. A comms-heavy marketer who prioritise top-of-funnel metrics
53. A marketer who can't tie your work directly to revenue
