Role: Infrastructure Engineer

Salary: £45,000-£70,000
This is a fully in office role, and the candidate must have a driving licence.
This company are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer with a strong foundation in Linux systems and networking to take ownership of core platform operations.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day engineering, optimisation, and support of infrastructure platforms, with a primary focus on Linux-based systems and network architecture.
Key Responsibilities
* Administer, optimise, and secure Linux-based systems, including system tuning, patching, performance optimisation, and troubleshooting complex issues.
* Design, configure, and maintain network infrastructure (VLANs, VPNs, routing, firewalling), ensuring secure, resilient, and high-performance connectivity across data centre and on-premise environments.
* Build and maintain virtualised platforms, managing compute, storage, and network resources to support scalable, high-performance workloads.
* Manage system reliability, uptime, and capacity planning, alongside maintaining backup and disaster recovery processes.
* Automate infrastructure and operational workflows using Infrastructure as Code tools.
* Contribute to monitoring, logging, and alerting improvements to enhance visibility and system reliability.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
* Strong Linux systems administration experience.
* Solid networking knowledge (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, routing).
* Experience troubleshooting complex system and network issues.
* Experience managing infrastructure in on-premise or hybrid environments.
* Familiarity with virtualisation technologies.
Desirable:
* Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, or similar).
* Exposure to containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
* Basic experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
* Familiarity with monitoring/observability tooling.
* Scripting (Bash, Python, or similar).
