Overview
We are seeking an experienced Contract Hardware Engineer to support the delivery of an exciting project involving the latest Intel/Altera FPGA technology. Our client is a market leader in the design and manufacture of cutting-edge computer imaging products, used globally in industries such as manufacturing, life sciences, medical imaging, robotics, and security.
This is a contract role offering the opportunity to work on innovative high-speed digital/FPGA hardware design projects alongside a skilled engineering team.
Role Details
* Job Title: Contract Hardware Engineer (FPGA)
* Contract Length: 3-6 months
* Location: Hybrid home/office working is available, with the possibility of remote working after the project commences.
* Qualifications: Degree in Electronic Engineering (or equivalent experience considered)
* Experience: 7+ years in commercial electronics design, with a strong track record in FPGA-based projects (Intel/Altera preferred).
Key Skills & Competencies
* Strong proficiency with Altium for schematic entry.
* Hands-on experience with Altera FPGAs (Agilex or other Intel/Altera families).
* Knowledge of FPGA power structure and sequencing design.
* Familiarity with PCB and hardware design best practices, including EMI/EMC considerations.
* Ability to work to tight deadlines while maintaining high standards.
* Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills for team collaboration and customer support.
Key Responsibilities
* Contribute to product specifications from a hardware perspective.
* Develop low-level system and architecture specifications.
* Take ownership of schematic design tasks for new product developments.
* Implement, verify, test, document, and support new designs.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality outcomes.
Desirable (Not Essential)
* High-speed interface experience: DDR4, PCI Express, SFP+, QSFP.
* Altium simulation knowledge.
* Imaging system background.
* Experience with JTAG-based testing (e.g., XJTAG).
