You’ll be working with a public sector organisation in the East Midlands, responsible for managing and maintaining highways and public‑facing infrastructure. The organisation delivers essential services across a defined local area and places a strong focus on safety andpliance. Due to ongoing programmes of work, they require additional support within their engineering and inspection function.
Your new role
As a Civil Engineering Inspector, you’ll be responsible for carrying out site‑based inspections across highways and public realm assets including roads, street works, car parks, and ongoing civil works.
Your role will be inspection andpliance‑focused. You’ll ensure works are being carried out safely, correctly, and in line with the relevant permits and legislation. This includes checking contractor documentation, identifying issues on site,pleting inspection reports, and escalating findings where required.
What you'll need to succeed
1. Experience working in a civil engineering, highways, street works, or public realm environment
2. Background in site inspections,pliance monitoring, or Clerk of Works‑style roles
3. Practical understanding of highways works and contractor activities
4. Confidence working independently and managing your own time
5. Ability to produce clear written reports using Word, Excel, and digital inspection tools
6. An HNC in Civil Engineering or similar is desirable.
7. NRSWA / Street Works Supervisor qualification is desirable but not essential.
(Local area knowledge and previous public sector experience would be beneficial.)
