Group Technical Accounting Senior Manager – Derby – Full-Time
Job Summary / Purpose: As a senior manager, with highly developed technical finance and professional skills, you will work with colleagues within the team and across the global business to ensure that accounting issues are addressed in a timely manner and that financial accounting matters are considered in commercial transactions. This will ensure that the Group’s financial statements are clear and compliant with accounting standards. This role supports the leadership of the finance function, providing the Director of Group Financial Control & Tax, Group CFO, Group Audit Committee and auditors with confidence over the integrity of key accounting judgements and the Group’s financial reporting. This is one of three Group Technical Accounting Senior Manager roles reporting into the Group Head of Technical Accounting, who reports to the Director of Group Financial Control & Tax.
What you will be doing
* Resolving technical accounting application issues across the breadth of the business, proactively and as they arise. Partner with the business to understand key issues and the accounting judgements and estimates to be made, providing expertise on technical accounting treatments compliant with IFRS and the Group Finance manual.
* Working with the business and external auditors of the Group and component teams to maintain a robust focus on closing accounting issues in a timely manner.
* Providing functional assurance for material investments and customer bids to enable informed decisions based on technically accurate financial information.
* Maintaining and communicating a Group Finance Manual to ensure compliance with Group policy and regulatory standards; advocate for financial control by challenging the integrity and accuracy of accounting and reporting.
* Keeping abreast of updates on accounting standards and externally issued best practice guidance, monitoring potential impact and actions required to remain compliant.
* Leading the implementation of new accounting standards and best practice guidance, ensuring procedures and tools enable continued statutory compliance and cascading requirements to the business for data collection in the financial statements.
* Producing high quality audit committee papers and working with key stakeholders across the business for presentation to the Group Audit Committee.
* Collaborating with the Head of Group Reporting to ensure Rolls-Royce Holdings and Rolls-Royce Plc Financial Statements are IFRS-compliant, including drafting Accounting Policies in the Annual Report and addressing key judgements and estimation uncertainty.
* Providing financial expertise to cross-functional teams in support of M&A activity.

Also required: a professional accountancy qualification with deep IFRS experience; external audit background is preferable. Strong technical accounting experience applying standards to complex transactions; ability to identify practical, technically sound solutions; track record of delivering within timescales with clear stakeholder communication; ability to summarize complex issues clearly; resilience, problem-solving and good judgment; excellent communication, leadership and influencing skills.
